Vitals

Capturing Vitals

AGNES boasts a versatile system featuring nine built-in vitals, each capable of receiving entries from two distinct sources.

  • Manual Entry
  • Sensor

Manual Entry

If the site is configured accordingly, users may update Vital Signs data manually.

To manually input a value:

  1. Select the respective item
  2. Click the input below the item
  3. Type in a text value or select an option from a dropdown list
  4. Confirm the entry by clicking on the check mark

Input Validation

Vitals all have a preset configuration, which is validated by the system after clicking the check mark. If the value entered is invalid, the system will display an error message.

The table below shows the valid inputs for each vital sign.

Vitals Data Validation Table
VitalRangeMetric
Pain1 - 10Dol (Dolorimeter)
Blood Glucose0 - 999mg/dL (milligrams per deciliter)
Blood Pressuresystolic / diastolicmmHG (millimetre of mercury)
Respirations0 - 50BrPM (breaths per minute)
SpO20 - 100% (percentage)
Pulse0 - 200BPM (beats per minute)

Entering Attributes

Vital attributes allow tagging additional metadata to vitals. This data is displayed in reports and passed with vital metrics when users export data to external EMR systems. Vital attributes are entered manually, the same as Vital Data.

Taking a Snapshot (capturing data)

To take a snapshot of the Vitals, click Take Snapshot. This will save the reading to the documents module.. The saved document can then be viewed, downloaded, or exported to an EMR.

Preconfigured Vitals

note

This page discusses system vitals only. For information on vitals not listed here, please contact a system administrator.

SpO2 and Pulse

An SpO2 test performed at the patient site provides a pulse reading. To generate the SpO2 test, the patient will put on a finger sensor. When the SpO2 and pulse readings are complete, they can be viewed in the vitals tab. The test results remain visible until another SpO2 test is done or Session Data has been cleared.

SpO2 Attributes

If Vital Attributes are enabled (disabled by default), this additional metadata can be added to the vital measurement.

  • Name: Air Source
  • Options: Room Air, Oxygen

Blood Pressure

After the examiner takes a blood pressure reading with a vital signs monitor, the results can be viewed in the vital module. The test results remain visible until another blood pressure test is taken or session data has been cleared.

Note: Depending upon the configuration, the final Blood Pressure reading will display as either mmHg or kPa.

Blood Pressure Attributes

If Vital Attributes are enabled (disabled by default), this additional metadata can be added to the vital measurement.

  • Name: Position
  • Options: Sitting, Standing, Lying down

Temperature

After the examiner takes a temperature reading with the thermometer, you can view the result through the Vitals tab. The test results remain visible until another Temperature reading is done or Session Data is cleared.

Note: Depending upon the configuration, the final Temperature reading will display as either FAHRENHEIT or CELSIUS.

Temperature Attributes

If Vital Attributes are enabled (disabled by default), this additional metadata can be added to the vital measurement.

  • Name: Method
  • Options: Temporal, Tympanic, Oral, Axillary, Rectal

Weight

Note: Depending upon the configuration, the final Weight reading will display as either POUNDS or KILOGRAMS.

Weight Attributes

If Vital Attributes are enabled (disabled by default), this additional metadata can be added to the vital measurement.

  • Name: Scale
  • Options: Standing Scale, Mechanical Lift, Chair Scale

Height

Note: Depending upon the configuration, the final Height reading will be displayed as either INCHES or CENTIMETERS.
